I know I don't do this not often enough - but yesterday I finally found some time to go through some bands' websites and check for new/updated tourdates - and this is what I found: no gigs for Bad Religion at this point, but Bloc Party added some upcoming concerts to their tour schedule. And also on the websites of Art Brut and Barbara Morgenstern I found some tour dates updates.

Antony and the Johnsons have some quite special gigs coming up: in September and October they'll be performing live in  Portland (OR-USA), Milano (I), Zaragoza (ES) and London (UK) together with the local Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nico Muhly. Wow. I only just wish they also came to Berlin…:]

for true fans of Finnish Heavy Metal string trio Apocalyptica this might be quite a chance to get closer to the band, than you'd ever expected: the "LIVE THE DREAM - THE CONTEST" offers a chance to win a 'ticket' to perform the hit "I'm Not Jesus" LIVE on Tour with Apocalyptica!

Ok - the competition is only about singing 1 song - but the winner will (have to) sing that one song live at five gigs altogether. From the Apo-newsletter:

"The Grand Prize Winner will perform the hit "I'm Not Jesus" live on the stage with the band - 5 shows the first week of August, including a main stage appearance at OZZFEST, August 9 in Dallas, TX. The winner will be flown from their home into the first show, then back home after the tour. During this mini-tour, the winner will live on the bus as a member of the band and have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to LIVE THE DREAM!"

…that actually does sound promissing  - doesn't it…?! So - now you'll probably ask yourself "what do I have to do to take part in that competition…? …how can I win the lead singer position…?" Here's the how-and-what:

"To enter the contest, make a video of you singing "I'm Not Jesus." You can stream the instrumental version of the song from the contest website. Upload your video to the official Apocalyptica 'Live the Dream' Contest Group!"

…good luck…!!

Even if it is not really 'ok' to talk about a lady's age - I just have to say it out loud: the petite pop princess from 'Down-Under' turns 40 today! Hip, hip, hooray! Congratulations! …and celebrations! …and a very happy Happy Birthday, Kylie Minogue! All the best wishes from Berlin: health, happiness, and always some Smooth Winds from behind…:]

And the other good news: Kylie Minogue is currently live on tour across Europe - so I decided that I'll finally also add her to the livetourdates-db and add the tour dates later today… - …hope, she doesn't mind…? …:]

update:
-> here's the tour dates

last week we were quite lucky: we won tickets for a gig of Martha Wainwright. Of course, usually that would not be such a big deal - usually you would probably just go and buy tickets in advance if you want to see a concert. But for this gig there were no tickets available - invitation only.

As far as I understood it the gig was neither a promotion gig nor a record release concert - but rather something like a sneak preview for Martha's upcoming second album "I Know You’re Married But I Have Feelings Too". Furthermore I actually had the feeling that Martha expected mostly journalists and label people to be in the audience - but she made it clear, that she felt quite comfortable beeing on stage instead of sitting in endless interview sessions.

Anyways - the concert was just great - we enjoyed it a lot. Of course Martha mostly played songs of her second upcoming album "I Know You’re Married But I Have Feelings Too", but also some all-time classics like "Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole". In the end the audiense first didn't stop applauding - so Martha came back on stage and played some more - encores..

..and now I'm curiously looking forward for her to come back to Berlin - which will probably happen at some point this year. But first the album will be released - and some UK-gigs played:

• 19.05.2008 London - Royal Festival Hall
("A Special Night with Martha Waiwright")
• 23.05.2008 Glasgow - Royal Concert Hall
• 24.05.2008 Birmingham - Symphony Hall
• 25.05.2008 Manchester - Bridgewater Hall

finally I could update also some tour dates for Tokio Hotel - they'll finally be touring all across Europe: France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Denmark - even Helsinki is on their schedule this time.. - ..hope you find tickets for one of their shows, if you like'em - most of the gigs seem to be Sold Out already - which is basically not a bad thing for a 'young band' like Tokio Hotel..:]

..just added some twenty-something tour dates of the Berlin based Beatsteaks. They are soon touring across Germany, Austria, Switzerland,  The Netherlands, great Britan and the Czech Republic to finally play some re-scheduled show, that were cancelled last winter, but also some additional shows...

yesterday evening (02.03.2008) we made it to the Maximum Black Festival at Berlin's Postbahnhof/ Fritz Club. This was a night out we planned for quite a while - we even had to buy the tickets in advance so we didn't have to worry about the danger of arriving at a sold-out event or anything similar..

Anyways. The evening was great - and it's just a shame, that this was such a mini tour (London, Vienna, Berlin) but quite understandable if you take a closer look at the backgroud of how this tour was planned and compiled. You will find the story here (homepage of the festival).

The bands participating: Final Fantasy, Deerhoof, Six Organs Of Admittance, Dirty Projectors, Frog Eyes, Stephen O'Malley + Alexander Tucker Duo three - and the almighty Max Tundra.

that's how it is sometimes: only yesterday I updated the tour dates for Stereo Total - and in the evening I received the note that they won't play in South America (Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina) on the originally planned dates - instead the dates are delayed.. The note didn't say anything about the reason for this delay - but I'll try to find out and then write about it - if I can..:]

greetz, t..

finally I managed to add some tour dates to the database: the schedules for Stereo Total, The Notwist, Jeans Team and Kissogram are up-to-date - the other bands' tour dates are not yet.. but soooon..

enjoy the shows, greetz, t..

I am awfully sorry that I didn't update livetourdates.org for quite a while.. I have to confess that I didn't really find the time. And if you don't even have time to go to concerts, you also don't really want to write about all the gigs you miss..

..anyways - I just removed some spam comments, blocked some spammers - and hope, that this website will somehow keep workin.. - ..I promise: a major update is on the way..

Well - what can I say? - it' s good to be back - for good..:]
