Cats on Fire - on fire

on Monday June 1st the Finnish band Cats on Fire will be playing live n Berlin's Magnet Club (Greifswalder Str.) and we can just hope to get tickets. Usually getting tickets for 'a gig like this' would probably not have been an issue at all: until recent the band was not very well known, neither in Germany, nor in Berlin, and Monday is not really the hottest going-out-day of the week. So basically on a Monday you could just stroll to the venue in time and need not fear to face a sold out box office.

But since Cats on Fire recently released their second album "Our Temperance Movement", things might have slightly changed for the Cats: various German magazines celebrated the Finns' latest album - and the band faces audiences they probably didn't expect when they first planned the 8 gig tour across Germany..

"We are very excited, especially since something strange has happened there - we've actually been receiving stunning reviews. First, it was the Spiegel online one, which was obviously a very big thing. But that's old news. Now we've gotten reviews in Stern (4 out of 5 stars), another German magazine giant. This is apparently an achievement, since they very rarely write about indie music. We also got 4/5 in Rolling Stone Germany, 4/5 in Musikexpress and really favourable ones in a few others that don't hand out points. The CD of the week spot at musikwoche.de is ours.
